How to Get a Copy of a Navajo Court Document
You can obtain a copy of a court document in three ways: online, in person, or by mail. The type of copy — regular or certified — determines both the procedure and the cost.
Online
Through the Public Access Case Lookup portal, you can view case information for free: status, dates, parties. Downloading the full text of a document through this portal is usually not possible — for this, you need to contact the office.
In Person
For Superior Court records, visit the Clerk of the Court office:
The office staff will find the required document and produce a regular or certified copy. A certified copy has the court's seal, confirming its authenticity — such copies are often required by other institutions and courts.
By Mail
Send a written request to the above address. Include the case number (if known), the full name of the party, the type of document, and whether a certified copy is needed. Include payment in the form of a money order.
For Justice Court records, contact the appropriate court directly. General requests for public records of the county can be submitted through the Public Records Request page or by calling 928-524-4053.
Access Restrictions
Not all records are open to the public. Juvenile cases, certain family cases, mental health cases, and sealed records are usually not accessible to the general public. If you are unsure whether a specific document is public, ask the office staff.
